Missouri steam show to feature ' Classic Farm Tractors Calendar' reunion

Beautifully restored classic tractors that previously appeared in the well-known 'Classic Farm Tractors Calendar' will be featured at the Missouri River Valley Steam Engine Association Back to the Farm Reunion, Sept. 9-12, Boonville, Mo. This will be the 15th reunion of the Classic Tractors Calendar Club, and a bevy of beautiful tractors from many different states are expected.

'When the 10-year reunion was held in Boonville in 1999, we had 66 of the tractors that had appeared on the calendar from as far as the East Coast and Canada,' Classic Calendar creator John Harvey says. 'The purpose of the calendar was to promote a new soybean herbicide called 'Classic,' and the calendar was an instant success.'

The 2004 Missouri River Valley Steam Engine Association Back to the Farm Reunion will also feature a tractor and memorabilia auction on Saturday after noon, Sept. 11, conducted by Aumann Auctions. Among the items to be auctioned is a 1930 Allis-Chalmers Model U that appeared on the 1991 'Classic

Farm Tractors Calendar.' The AC tractor is owned by Lee Schmidt of California, Mo., a Missouri River Valley Steam Engine Association member and the on-site coordinator for the Classic Tractors Calendar Reunion. A number of other premium classic tractors will be in the auction, and some rare pieces of memorabilia will be auctioned, as well.

The 'Classic Farm Tractors Calendar' spotlights tractors of various makes and models, and 232 tractors have appeared on the calendar to date, John notes. Through the years, most calendars have included at least one Allis-Chalmers, Case, Farmall, Ford, John Deere, Massey-Harris, Minneapolis-Moline and Oliver tractor. Nearly 50 other lesser-known tractor brands are represent ed, as well.

The Missouri River Valley Steam Engine Association Back to the Farm Reunion is also packed with much more, including working demonstrations, a petting zoo, blacksmithing, tractor parade and pulls, vendors and good food. FC
