LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

LOOKING FOR TINKER CAST IRON PRODUCTS

I'm enjoying Farm Collector. Keep up the good work. My reason for writing: In the early 1800s, my ancestors built the first iron cupola in the state of Ohio near where I live in a place called Tinker's Hollow. There they made mowing machines, plow points, sled runners, stoves and various other things out of cast iron. My great-grandfather hauled the mowing machine around on a wagon and would stop and demonstrate it to the farmers.

Surely someone out there has a cast iron product with the Tinker name on it. I would like very much to hear from that person. Thank you.

VICKSBURG HISTORICAL SOCIETY NEEDS INFORMATION ON THE KIMBALL-DENTLER

The Vicksburg (Mich.) Historical Society and Museum is looking for any information, printed material, photographs or memories of the Kimball-Dentler tractor manufactured in Vicksburg, Mich., around 1913. The photo and brief description that appears in "Encyclopedia of American Farm Tractors" is the only reference to this tractor I have been able to find, locally or elsewhere. Anyone with additional information could be a big help to us in rounding out the story on this local manufacturer, as well as to members of the Dentler family who are also interested in this tractor's history. Can any readers help with this one?

LOOKING FOR AVERY DRAWBAR HORSEPOWER

I wish somebody out there could tell me the drawbar horsepower of an Avery model V tractor. It was a one-plow tractor, 14"-16" bottom (one plow) only.

Also, is there anyone out there that has pictures, history etc., of Corbitt trucks. This was a heavy truck built in Henderson, N.C. 50 miles south of me. They went out of business in the 1950s, and I would like the history; also pictures of their first and last models. I had a cousin who worked for them, but I was not interested in collecting anything at the time. They only sold their trucks direct to customer: there were no dealers.
