LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

BANANA STICKERS TO CORN SHELLERS...

I almost pulled a booboo! I almost let my subscription to Farm Collector expire. I started with your very first issue in August 1998, and I have loved every one of them. Several of my friends have subscribed to the magazine when they saw my copy.

I like the wide variety of stories and pictures. It seems that almost everyone collects something. From time to time, we read articles on personal friends, and the treasures they collect. Our whole family reads the magazine. Keep up the good work.

Our problem is, I guess, we collect too many different things: from banana stickers to kerosene lamps, corn shellers to gas engines, and a few things in between. We've about run out of room to put anything else. We even have about 40 restored antique aircraft engines.

Thanks for a good magazine. James and Rheba Dekle, Thomasville, GA

CAN YOU IDENTIFY THIS?

I enjoy Farm Collector so much! Once again, I am sending your readers a photo of one of my items to find out what it was used for. I bought it at an estate sale in Pennsylvania tobacco country. That is why I think it may have been used to bind tobacco stems. The stake on the left side is pointed (to take the picture, I pounded it into the ground to make it stand up). It can be opened all the way to enable a pile of whatever before the binding is done.

I'd appreciate any information anyone might have. Ron Bennett, 1870 Strong Road, Victor, NY 14564

ALL WASHED UP: NEED INFO ON MACHINE

I enjoy Farm Collector so much I took advantage of the special two-year subscription along with the embroidered cap.

I also am sending along a picture of a very primitive wood washing machine I recently acquired. "Brammer Mfg. Co, Davenport, IA" is stamped on the bottom of the tub. The wringer has "Eagle, Pat. 1878" on it.

I was wondering if any Farm Collector readers could tell me the age or any other information about this washer.

I look forward to another two years of your magazine. Dean Tapley, 1446 Browns Mill Rd., Elsberry, MO 63343
