Windmillers Spin into Fort Dodge for Trade Fair
Like dandelions in the spring, vintage windmills sprouted by the dozen in Fort Dodge, Iowa recently. The site of the 11th annual International Wind millers Trade Fair, Fort Dodge played host to hundreds of windmill collectors in mid-June. By all accounts, the event was a success.
"We had a very good show," said Wayne Beshey, president of the collectors group. "There's just a lot of people showing interest in windmills."
More than 300 members registered at the event, including 81 new members. Exhibitors came from all over the U.S., and several - including five brothers of the Mott family from Ontario - came from Canada. Location, Beshey said, was everything.
"That central location in the Midwest really helped," he said.
But other factors also played a role.
