ON THE ROAD
WITH FARM COLLECTOR
A Show Even Frosty Would Love
The Blue Mountain Antique Gas and Steam Engine Association's eighth annual "Snow Show" started slow. But the show has become a regular event for the hardcore engine collector
"It started as a joke," says Harriet Abt of the Blue Mountain club. "You know, 'Let's have the first show of the season'. It started with about 20 people the first year, but last year there were more than 300 out there."
The Snow Show, set for Jan. 16 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at the Jacktown Community Center, Bangor, Penn., is held regardless of prevailing weather conditions. "It's been held in deep snow, and in no snow at all," Harriet says. "There's a small place where they can eat indoors, but it's mostly outside. It's a man's thing."
"They call it a show," Harriet says, "but mostly the/re just getting together because there's nothing else to do in the winter."
