One unusual box press

Content Tools

Your story on the Canandaigua, N.Y., show (Farm Collector, January 2007, page 17) shows a picture of a Hercules box press. California hay farmers used box presses for about 100 years (Farm Collector, August 2004) but none of us have ever seen anything like the one in your article.

I think the model of the IH combine on the cover of the January 2007 edition is a 51; Model 141 was an early self-propelled machine. I sewed sacks on a 51 for several seasons.

Your magazines are always very interesting!

Editor's note: Whoops! Don's right: The combine on the cover of the January 2007 issue is definitely not a Model 141, and appears to be a pull-type Model 51. Thanks for the correction!
