Went to a nice small local show in Pittsburg, Kansas, held June 21-22, 2013. I was reminded that it is great to go see the big shows across the country, but like a line I sort of borrowed from one of my favorite movies, sometimes you don’t need to look any further than your own back yard. (My version from the Wizard of Oz!)

Butter Churns
For a smaller show they offered quite a variety of things to see!

Old Car

Ball Bearing Mover(2)
Engineered by Loren Erwin. How could anyone have the patience to make this!? It’s awesome!

Ball Bearing Mover
Here’s a large ball bearing mover. Now, if you ever wanted to move some ball bearings, this is the way to do it!

Trailer/display
This is a cool trailer/display. The owner, Jamie Gull, can take his engines down the road protected from the elements, then with a small motor he can raise the frame up, and the flaps out. Voila! Instant display for spectators to walk around and enjoy his collection! Ingenuity at its finest!

The show was held on the Crawford County Museum grounds, and the museum itself was very impressive, with lots of fun memorabilia from the area, including a Civil War cannon.

My food especial on this trip was the famous, Chicken Annie’s! A great old home town spot for fried chicken and all the fixin's! I’d heard about it in my neck of the woods, but had never been since it’s a few hours from where I live. There’s Chicken Annie’s and Chicken Mary’s in the same town, a sort of “chicken wars” but that means there’s plenty for everyone!

Rope Making
There were scale models, classic cars, apple peeler, butter churns and rope making to name a few of the other sights.

If you want to learn more about the show, read about it in the September 2013 issue of Farm Collector or visit  www.sekgasenginetractorclub.com

See you down the road!
