Horse power info wanted

I have an intriguing question for you and your readers. Has anyone heard of an extant horse power in which the horse(s) do NOT walk in a full circle? I have some limited century-old information about horse powers used on hay presses where the horse apparently walked backward and forward. It will be interesting to communicate with someone who may own one of those units. Keep up the good work.
