Inside the April issue of Farm Collector, on newsstands March 17
Blitz Foggers, a Blast From the Past – An Ohio man searches far and wide for the aftermarket pesticide dispenser attachments made in the 1950s and ’60s. His collection began when he researched 1966 Case garden tractors for his daughter, and found a dealer poster offering a Blitz Fogger with the purchase of a new machine.
Washington Collection Showcases Trio of Rare Early Gas Engines – A Washington man’s gas engine collection includes a one-of-a-kind 1893 Crossley-Otto, a 1915 20 hp St. Mary’s, and a 1903 3 hp Stickney Junior – the second oldest in the United States.
Military Studebaker Reveals WWII History Lesson – A military vehicle enthusiast discovers a US6 Studebaker from WWII that, like many military trucks, became a farm vehicle after the war. Besides its complete and unmodified body, the retired vehicle contains doodles on the dashboard detailing Adolf Hitler’s demise.
Gas Leak Leads to a Holiday Season Surprise – A man remembers a gas explosion from his childhood – a couple weeks before Christmas, an electric pump sparked gasoline leaking from a storage tank into the family’s well, causing it to explode.
The History of Heider Tractors – Heider Mfg. Co. began with two brothers in 1903 and developed a series of tractors, but it took three years to debut a tractor on the market. While the line ceased production in 1937, its tractors will be remembered for their unique drive system.
