This conversation with one of the pre-eminent figures in farm tractor history features insights that could only be learned from being there. Harold Brock worked intimately with Henry Ford, Edsel Ford and Henry Ford Jr. He personally met Thomas Edison, Harry Ferguson and many other legends of modern invention and industry.

In this DVD, Harold talks about his days as a youth at the Ford Apprentice School and how that led to meeting and working with Henry Ford and being brought into the small engineering department shepherded by Mr. Ford. The conversation covers how Ford met Harry Ferguson and, perhaps more importantly, how the Ford design team ultimately dealt with Ferguson. Time is also spent talking about the history of Ford Motor Company and some of the key players like “Cast Iron” Charlie Sorensen, Eugene Farkas, George Sherman and other key engineers at Ford.

At 113 minutes, this DVD is almost two hours long, with supporting images from the N-News archives. The DVD includes a slideshow of additional Ford-related photos collected over the years. This is an excellent opportunity to hear about the historic development of the Ford N series tractors from a man who was at the center of it all.

GAS & STEAM VINTAGE REPRINT COLLECTION SET

Price: $35.00

An unbelievable value! This collection includes 18 hard-to-find vintage reprints for gas and steam engines as well as tractor and farm equipment.

With catalogs featuring Huber's great return-flue engines, Aultman & Taylor’s classic "Sunflower" engine and Avery's giant underslungs, this selection of vintage steam brochures highlights the power and beauty of steam traction engines. Hardcore steamers will also appreciate the classic steam engine troubleshooting guide Traction Engine Troubles.

From the richly detailed catalog of Galloway engines to Ottawa Log Saws' just-the-facts operating catalog, these books give a glimpse into the engine features that attracted customers, and how manufacturers hooked buyers' attention.

From small-time Harrison Machine Works, manufacturer of the famous Jumbo steam traction engines and Belleville Threshers, to giant McCormick Reaper Works, these catalogs are a walk back to a time when getting the work done meant harnessing the horses or steaming up the traction engine.

The gas tractor changed American farming practices forever, and this selection of vintage reprints underscores just a few of the challenges and triumphs of new tractor technology. Catalogs including John Deere, International Harvester, Eagle Manufacturing and more show the competitiveness of the tractor market.
