Here is a picture of my 22-44 Minneapolis Farm Motor. It is in A-1 condition as it has been housed most of its life except for about 11/2 years. The man that bought it brand new traded a 40 acre farm for it in 1924. This picture shows the old and the new.

Engine pulling a fourteen bottom breaking plow, breaking the virgin
sod of Dakota. This outfit was purchased 50 years ago and was the
first engine and separator to be unloaded in Barnard, South Dakota.
After the harvest this same engine was belted to the largest
‘Red River Special’ separator and threshed for as many as
73 days some falls. It threshed its last in 1920 after wearing out
two separators. This was H. S. Flukes with his Breaking outfit near
Westport, S. D.I wish that I would have had a camera way back when
I was a small boy and preserved some of the beautiful pictures that
were present at the time. My first recollection of a steam engine
was’ in 1911, a 22 HP Buffalo-Pitts. Now I have to be content
to visit the reunions, which we do every fall.

A snapshot of my Baker Engine, 21-75 HP, No. 16389, taken a few
years back. I sold this engine to a man in Ohio and since it has
changed hands and I lost track of it. Some time ago I ran an ad in
the Album to locate it. Mr. Otto Klutzke of Lafayette, Indiana
answered the ad, informing me he was the owner. Shortly after the
first of January, Charles Routh of St. Joseph, Illinois, Paul Alsip
and Ike Lewis of Ogden, Illinois and I motored to Lafayette and had
a nice visit with Mr. Klutzke and was glad to see the Baker once
again. Much to my surprise Mr. Klutzke said he would sell the Baker
and a Keck that he also owned. So, Charles Routh is a proud owner
of the Keck and I am  a happy boy reunited with the Baker. Mr.
Klutzke did make some changes much to my regret. He took the lugs
off and the the Boy Scouts got them in a scrap drive. Also cut the
front wheels down and put it on rubber. He did a nice job but I
wish I could find some one to trade wheels with. I am rebuilding
the tanks and making a new cab. I will give it a good cleaning and
paint job.
