Unfortunately there were no dimensions given for the: "August 2011 Mystery Tool A". If it was about 20 to 24 inches in diameter, then I can envision that if the short wires or spikes on the inside were sharp and pointed up, it could have been used to hold a burlap bag. A person would hold it by the handles while another person would shovel material in the "now open top bag". Dale, a long time subscriber.

looks like a carrier for moving a hot vat or crucible. you straddled the vat with this and a person on each side would lift up and be able to move it, or pour contents out. gramps had something like it hanging in workshop saw him and uncle jake use it once.

I seen a simular device to this one used for dragging hog carcases in to cool.
