Iowa State University and Premier 1 Supplies will host a Sheep Field Day at Premier’s facilities, on Saturday, Feb. 18. There will be multiple seminars from industry researchers and representatives.
Speakers are Professor Dan Morrical of Iowa State University, Dr. Travis Hoffman of North Dakota State University, Dr. Richard Ehrhardt of Michigan State University, Lesa Eidman of Superior Farms (California) and Stan Potratz of Premier 1 Supplies (Washington, Iowa).
Topics of discussion will include: lamb quality, how to succeed with forage crops, pros and cons of accelerated lambing, impact of micro minerals on feeding sheep, what do lamb buyers like and dislike, and hands on teaching of critical winter shepherding skills. Tours will be provided of Premier’s barns and unique lambing facilities.
Cost is $20 per person, collected the day of the event. A lamb lunch is included with the price. Please RSVP ahead of time via the Premier 1 Supplies website.
