Mystery machine may be a Sageng thresher

| July 2006

In response to the question about the unusual threshing machine photo, it is a Sageng Threshing Machine, produced by the Sageng Threshing Machine Co., St. Paul, Minn.

The company began in 1908. By 1909, there was a sales representative in Dell Rapids, S.D., according to Dell Rapids business records. The Norwegian-American Historical Association's archives in Northfield, Minn., contain brochures for the threshing machine, and the Minnesota Historical Society may have additional information. C.H. Wendel's book Encyclopedia of American Farm Implements & Antiques (page 352) has an illustration of the threshing machine and some information on it.
