Old photos spark questions

| March 2008

My grandfather, John Bailey, was born in Raymond, Kan., in 1896 and was farming in Moscow, Kan., in the early 1920s when my dad was born. The photo (above) of the combine is interesting and I was wondering if anyone could identify the combine make or even the tractor brand.

The second photo is of two header barges. How does a header barge work? This photo (below) was taken at Bloom, Kan. Is there such a place? This was my grandfather's crew in the early teens, probably before he went to World War I.
