This 1953 Ferguson TO30 was purchased new by my grandfather,
Fred Kanouse, and my father, Wendell, of South Webster, Ohio, for
about $1,800. It came with a set of 2-bottom plows and a mowing
machine.

The tractor was used on a 172-acre farm. It was a big farm for a
relatively small tractor: it was even used to bush hog the pasture
fields, without live power. The Ferguson would sometimes get stuck
on a stump, and my dad would have to get help from the neighbor and
his tractor to pull the tractor off, because it would lock up
without live power.

In 1976, dad sold the farm but kept the Ferguson. Then I started
using the Ferguson to make some extra money, plowing gardens and
bush-hogging. Later, when my wife, Debbie, and I got our own place,
I brought the Ferguson home. Our son, Brandon, grew up mowing with
the Ferguson. Now restored and painted, after 52 years, the tractor
remains in the Kanouse family.
