Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, hosts the annual Midwest Old Threshers Reunion held this past year Aug. 31-Sept. 4, 2006. Operating steam engines now for 20 years is Matt Birky, Solon, Iowa.
Matt is busy shoveling coal to keep this 1915 Wood Bros. 20 HP running on the Baker fan during the Saturday afternoon demonstrations.
Mel and Judy Kerr, Macomb, Ill., own the engine. Chris Heaton, nephew to the Kerrs, brought the engine to the show. Matt was on hand for his second year running the engine for Chris.
