Amoco Lubricants is sponsoring the 1997 Tractor Restoration competition. Open to FFA members, the competition offers a total of $10,000 in prize money at the national level.

The competition has two categories, Individual and Chapter entries. Each category offers a Grand Prize of $2,500. Also, in each category, the First Runner-up will receive $1,500 and the Second Runner-up will receive $1,000.

The goal for each individual or chapter entrant is to restore a vintage tractor to the condition it was in when it rolled off the assembly line.

State Competition FirstAll entries will be judged first at the state level. Judging will be based on five factors: mechanical factors in the restoration, appearance of the restored tractor, documentation of the restoration process, safety of the restored tractor, and performance on an oral review which evaluates the contestant's knowledge of the restoration.

The top two entries from each participating state will be entered in the national competition which takes place at the FFA National Convention to be held in Kansas City, Missouri in November, 1997.
