On the engine is Frank A. Brown, owner. In front of engine with long whiskers is Aaron Howser, next Billy Hare and the fartherest one is Ball Clark, owner of silo filler.

As you can see, it is a V type two cylinder engine with the cylinders nearly vertical at a 90 degree angle. The crank shaft runs lengthwise underneath the boiler with a drive shaft and two universals to one front axle with a ring gear and pinion. This axle drives the other two wheels by connecting rods. The back wheels are arranged the same, with all eight wheels pulling.
