PRESIDENT OF FARM EQUIPMENT COMPANY DIES

Carlos C. Banting, Sr., 78, president of the Banting Co., farm
equipment firm, died early today in his home, 2455 Robinwood
Avenue, after a 1-year illness.

Mr. Banting was born in Elmore, Ohio, and came to Toledo in
1899. He organized the Banting Manufacturing Co., which made
threshers 54 years ago. In 1930 the company ceased its
manufacturing operations and Mr. Banting formed the Banting Co., to
sell farm equipment.

Given 50-Year Scroll

In December 1952, Mr. Banting was given a scroll for his 50
years membership in Toledo Council, United Commercial Travelers,
which he joined in 1902.

Mr. Banting also was a member of Collingwood Presbyterian
Church; Rotary Club, and Inverness Club. He was a graduate of
Elmore High School and the former Melchoir Business College of
Toledo.

Surviving are his wife Donna; sons James and Carlos, Jr., both
of Toledo; daughters, Mrs. Lockert Be-miss, Williamsburg, Va., and
Mrs. Crossan Hayes, Grosse Point Woods, Mich., and eight
grandchildren.
