Raymond Paul Heidbrink of Owensville, Mo.,
passed away Aug. 21, 2004, at 88 years old. He had a lifelong
interest in steam engines and was one of the founders of the
Owensville Old Threshers Show in Rosebud, Mo. While serving in the
U.S. Army in Germany in WWII, he was stationed close to a railroad
terminal. His commanding officer noticed his interest in steam, and
he ended up in the Army machine shop. His commander told him to go
ahead and make his own model, since all the tools were there for
him to use. So he did, finishing it upon his return home. After the
war, he worked on farm machinery until he retired. He was very fond
of the 19 HP Keck-Gonnerman. Always ready to help with any engine,
he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
