Ernest C. “Stub” Coplin, 96, of Olivet, Mich.,
died May 4, 2006. Ernest was born June 11, 1909, in Walton
Township, Eaton County, Mich. He was the son of Clarence and Viola
(Volland) Coplin and a life-long resident of the Ainger area.
Ernest served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In his youth
he worked with his father running steam engines for threshing grain
Battle Creek, Mich., and Airway Mfg. Co. of Olivet, which he
retired. He was a founding member of the Michigan Steam Engine and
Threshers Club, Mason, Mich., attended the Ainger Bible Church and
enjoyed flying.
Surviving are his companion, Joan Binkowski; family friend,
Marilyn Suntken; numerous nieces and nephews.
