THE GOLDEN ROLL

| November/December 2004

It saddens me deeply to report the passing of a dear friend, Bernard 'Bernie' Woodmansee of Hastings, Mich. Bernie, age 70, passed away Thursday Aug. 12, . 2004. Bernie was born Nov. 28, 1933, the son of Harry 'Pink' and Gladys (Gerber) Woodmansee.

Bernie enjoyed running steam engines, attending steam shows, oval track racing, picking on waitresses in restaurants, running his sawmill and having a good time and a beer with his friends. He was a member of the Michigan Historical Steam Engine Assn. and several other steam clubs.

A memorial service was held at Bernie's sawmill with family, friends and all his steam engine buddies. Bernie was at my house the night before his passing, and we made plans to go to the LaGrange, Ind., J steam show together. His passing came as quite a shock. Bernie was one of a kind, and we will miss him.
