196 Seymour Street, Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin
A very successful banquet was held by the Wisconsin Steam
Antique Engine Club Inc., at Bernard Hall at Pond Du Lac, November
12, 1960, attended by 131 members and friends. Novelty favors were
provided for each guest and slides were shown of the Steam Engine
Show at Fond Du Lac, the Early Day Gas Engine & Tractor
Show, all held in the summer of 1960.
Dancing was enjoyed. Music was provided by a 5 piece orchestra
assembled by Ervin Vetter and Herman Reckelberg, two of our steam
engine workers.
A special tribute was paid to Tom Smith, our Engines and
Engineers Editor, who attended all the steam shows and was a member
of these clubs and did so much for them. He passed away quite
suddenly in Sept., 1960. Most of us had a little visit with him at
the Early Day Gas Engine & Tractor Show at the Nettesheim Farm
this fall. Soon after he was taken to the hospital, where he passed
on. Sadly missed by all.
Ray Klinger, Hartford, Wis., Frank Kozlich of Luxemberg, Wis.,
Fred Herbst of Manitowoc, Wis., Fred Walters of Plymouth, Wis.,
were reelected as directors of the club and plans were made for
another Steam Engine Show at the Fond Du Lac
Fairgrounds, June 10, 11, 12, 1961. All you steam engine fans
keep this date in mind.
