July 2013 Mystery Tool A

This old farm tool was found at a garage sale in Glendale, Ariz. The wooden handles, rope, handle and iron are all original. There is no name or number on the iron tongs.

It looks to me like a tool for carrying large pieces if pipe or rod, the same principle as ice tongs. This tool is designed for one man.
