I paid my first visit to the Mount Pleasant Old Threshers Reunion just last month (at the time of writing). I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed by the scale and quality of the event. The grounds and surrounding town of Mount Pleasant was a pleasure to see as well.

When I was originally heading out to Mount Pleasant, I was unprepared for how big of an event the Old Threshers Reunion was. I had seen photos from some of the previous years, but I don’t think they captured the size of the grounds or amount of displays. Even compared to the other vintage shows I’ve been to, Old Threshers was a sight to behold.

Of course, I wasn’t the only one out enjoying a vintage show. I met with several contributors to Farm Collector and Gas Engine Magazine. I even got a few more photos of the Reynolds family with their featured engines.

Speaking of vintage festivals, Josephine Roberts recently attended the Caerwys Vintage Festival. If you want to learn all about the sights and sounds of a Welsh show, you can hardly find a better choice than her first-hand account. Several of her family members also present at Caerwys, so you can get even more of an inside track on the event. Read her take of the event in this issue’s Tales from Wales.

If scheduling around a vintage show is proving a challenge, there are a couple of permanent sites you can visit for your vintage farm and power fix.

Fred Hendricks visited the Malabar Farms State Park and brought some highlights of his visit in this issue. Whether it’s the surviving Ferguson equipment, the maple-syrup production, or the connection to author Louis Bromfield that is most exciting, Malabar Farms is an interesting destination. Read all about it on our website.
