Antique tractor enthusiasts have a special treat in store at the 2015 Empire Farm Days to be held Aug. 11-13 at the Rodman Lott and Son Farms, 2973 State Route 414, Seneca Falls, New York. The antique tractor display, affectionately known as Old Iron at the largest outdoor agricultural show in the Northeastern U.S., will feature four consecutive serial number Super MTA Farmall tractors.
“Finding two consecutively numbered tractors is a big deal in itself, four is mostly unheard of,” says Howard Hemminger, president of the Bellona International Harvester Antique Tractor Club.
Hemminger tells how the rare exhibit developed over nearly half a century.
“Marvin and Nancy Adams of Phelps, New York, owned one Super MTA and 44 years later found a consecutively numbered tractor at an auction. They restored them and brought them to Empire Farm Days in 2014. While walking through the exhibit they discovered a third-in-the-row owned by Jack Thompson of Marietta,” Hemminger explains, “then, in late December 2014, after reading a Red Power Magazine article on the tractor trio, Paul Dudley of Cato called to say he had the fourth.”
Joining the celebrated crimson quartet of tractors at the antique tractor clubs’ exhibit at the 2015 Empire Farm Days will be at least three 1940s-era International Harvester trucks at the Bellona International Harvester Antique Tractor Club exhibit.
The Old Iron Parade that travels the center of the showgrounds daily at 2 p.m. showcases a mix of garden-size to large commercial production model tractors.
The three-day, 300-acre Empire Farm Days extravaganza also offers visitors an up-close look at new iron with all the latest farming equipment and vehicles on exhibit and working in field demonstrations.
The Empire Farm Days Kiddie Tractor Pull presented by the NYS 4-H Foundation has been expanded for 2015. The NYSFFA Tractor Driving Safety Contest will be held on Thursday, Aug. 13 at the show.
Ride and Drive experiences let visitors take wheel loaders, backhoes and skidsteers; four-wheelers and utility vehicles, and skidsteers for a test run.
