Set your sites on Humboldt, SD August 8-11, 2013!  You will see a sight that has never been seen before. If you’re a historian of farming operations and festivals, you will likely have seen photos of plowing demonstrations that have a large number of bottoms in the ground at the same time. Well this is going to take the records by storm since it will feature Minneapolis Moline tractors and equipment exclusively with the mission of having more than 100 bottoms in the ground at the same time.

This somewhat crazy idea was initiated by the Siouxland Collectors Club, a regional Minneapolis Moline collector group that is located in South Dakota with members from Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska but also has members as far away as Kansas and Indiana. Although they are the instigators, they are fully supported by the national MM collector club, the Prairie Gold Rush. This will in fact be the national summer show for the Prairie Gold Rush organization so be prepared to see a lot of “Prairie Gold.”

The event would not be possible without the strong support and the local Humboldt Thresherman’s Association and their great facility just south of Humboldt, SD on Highway 19. Their show has been in existence for well over 20 years and includes a tractor drive, tractor pull, outstanding field demonstrations, wheat or oat threshing, corn shelling, a women’s area with displays of textile collections and craft project demonstrations, and live entertainment!
