Three people who saw the bells I wrote about (Farm
Collector, August 2005, page 5) told me they were prayer bells
used by monks in Europe. The monks would shake the bells as they
said their prayers. The whistle in the bottom may have been added
later. Thanks for printing my letter. I had no calls or letters
from any Farm Collector subscribers, so I guess we stumped
