A letter to the editor in the December issue of Farm
Collector jogged memories for a good many readers. The letter was
accompanied by a photo of an implement that the writer, Erik
Hallberg, tentatively identified as a hay rake. Neither
misidentification nor the fact that the piece was photographed
upside-down threw our readers off the scent: In dozens of letters,
