That’s me on my 1959 John Deere 630 in the Elberta, Ala.,
Centennial Parade in November 2004. I was able to get it ready with
about four days to spare. My lifelong friend and myself were
co-chairmen of the agriculture display committee, so even though I
had been working six hours away until late July for two years, and
Hurricane Ivan hit us directly, I was determined to be in the
German settlement, and until all the recent growth on the Gulf
Coast was a farming community. My grandfather and his two brothers
started farming when they were barely teenagers.
I enjoy the magazine very much and it helped me with my 630.
