Ken Kurtz, St. Jacobs, Ontario, Canada, phoned to tell me that the photo of the nicely restored Fordson E27N that appeared in my “Let’s Talk Rusty Iron” column in the December 2008 issue of Farm Collector was his. Ken exhibited the Fordson and a McCormick-Deering W30 at the World Plowing Championship plowing match (which I attended) Aug. 21-23, 2003, at the Elora Research Farm of the University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario.
The competitors, who came from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Norway, Scotland, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, the U.S.A. and Wales, all used modern tractors and plows, but the local antique tractor clubs put together a nice exhibit of old tractors and machinery. I appreciate Ken letting me know who owned the Fordson in the photo.
