Do you recognize this tool?
This old farm tool measures about 3 inches by 2 inches by 2-3/4 inches. It is made of brass with a wood handle that resembles a file handle. The internal parts are made of steel. The shaft rotates when turned up; it moves a block the moves up and down. The block is slotted with two set screws to hold a saw blade or tool of some kind. It has a foot similar to that on a sewing machine.
