Do you recognize this tool?
This old farm tool was found in a disked field where a barn had been located in the 1800s. The handle folds back and forth. The piece is cast with “W. Ralph, Patented June 18, 1887, Utica, NY.” (The photo suggests an 1807 date but on the actual piece there are slight indents on each side of the number and a line in the middle making the number an 8.) The piece sticking up in the center is hollow.
