1888 ENGINE PROBLEMS IN PENNSYLVANIA

Problems cause by steam traction engines on the highways were
discussed with great gravity by the Pennsylvania State Board of
Agriculture in its 12th annual report of 1888.

The two major problems figuring in the report were those caused
by the effects that the engines had on horses pulling wagons and
carriage, and the breaking of bridges under weight of the engines.
