This is a postcard we bought while on a recent visit to England.
It is published by the British Library, and copyrighted by the
board of the library.
The engine shown is from an illustration in the 1897 catalogue
of road locomotives manufactured by Charles Burrell and Sons,
famous firm of Thetford, Norfolk.
The catalogue is in the trade literature collection of the
Science reference Library, which undoubtedly would be a mine of all
kinds of steam data for those who wish to do research.
Some libraries in the U. S. and Canada include trade catalogues
in their collections. If you know of any which have especially
interesting books, booklets, catalogs, manuals, advertisements, or
