With the toot of the whistles and the chug of the steam engine
in the parade, the spectators know that the Farmers and
Thresherman’s Jubilee is well under way for another year. This
year was our Silver Anniversary, which took place September 8, 9,
10, 1977. With our 20 steam engines and gas engines, tractors and
They came from the states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Iowa, West
Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, Nevada and Missouri.
The weather was the nicest in a number of years. Added
attractions this year were corn shelling, cleaning grain with a
windmill, making handles, sawing with a powered cross cut saw and
getting the Fairbanks Morris engine running. One of the most
interesting demonstrations was the little sawmill, which consisted
of a sawmill 1/8 scale Wood Tabor and Morris, four wheel drive
engine which was new at the Jubilee this year.
Other pieces which were added since last year were a 1/2 scale
and a 1/3 scale ‘Peerless’ model. Also on display were a 50
HP Peerless, Farquhar stationary, Rumely Oil Pull, and an Osborn
grain binder. At the Jubilee we had nice concessions, featuring
handmade jewelry, bonnets, quilts, paintings, flower arrangements,
and a country kitchen. People who like modern things are also
included by having displays of snowmobiles, garden tractors, and
modern kitchen appliances. We had tractor pulling also. Next year
we are planning to add different crafts. We encourage all hobbies
is to bring their models and invite all to join in on the fun and
excitement of the 26th Anniversary to be held . September 7, 8, 9,
