SONG OF THE IRON-MEN

R. D. 1, Kearney, Missouri

Let’s go down to the village, and sit by the old box stove
to live again in memory, the deeds of long ago.

IT’S SNOWING

Let’s go down to the village congenial souls we’ll see
who remember how they plant and plow in the days that used to
be.

IT’S SUNNY

Let’s go down to the village, and sit on the bench in the
sun and we’ll recall, with one and all, the valorous deeds
we’ve done.
