R.D. 1, Kearney, Missouri
‘Twas the busy threshing season but the work was going slow
teams and drivers idly waiting for the signal that meant
‘go’. Came a puff and then a roaring mules and horses both
took fright pitchers wildly waving pitchforks, drivers pulling
leather tight. When at last the panic lessened and the boss checked
load then the two checked up the damage made repairs with all their
might boss said, ‘Boys, the show’s all over it was just the
mud-head blowed.’
