President, Pioneer Harvest Fiesta, Ft. Scott, KS.
HERMAN SCHLICHTING of Rural Lamar, MO, passed away June 8, 1986,
at the age of 74.
Herman was a farmer and thresher man in the popular Rumely Oil
Pull days. He became a member of the Pioneer Harvester shortly
after the formation of the Pioneer Harvest Fiesta in 1956 at Ft.
Scott, KS.
Herman arranged several threshing bees at his farm near Lamar,
two of which were powered by steam engines from Ft. Scott, others
by International tractors. This stimulated much interest in other
area shows, where Herman was often a regular attender and always
ready and willing to give a helping hand. For this reason, he will
be greatly missed.
