Several months ago a handful of antique engine and machinery
collectors met with the intent of forming a club. After much
discussion, it was evident that most people wanted something more
than a collector’s club. In fact, a museum in addition to the
collector’s club was what most of us had in the back of our
minds. It was decided that a museum with a country village format
mechanical devices of the 1870s to 1920s was our purpose.
The first general meeting of Century Museum Village and
Collectors Association was held November 29, 1977 at the Dutchess
County Farm and Home Center located east of Poughkeepsie, New York.
It was attended by 35 prospective members. A tentative date of May
28 and 29,1978 was established for our first show.
